Short description
This work, which forms a pair with its mirror image, inv. no. PV 1141, was bought privately in 1920. Originally set to the right as the viewer looks, it depicts an angel with large wings, kneeling on its left leg while holding a candlestick on the other, the upper part of which is now lost. The head looks up slightly and the expression is melancholy. Apart from the flesh tones, the work is gilded all over, on a base of bole and dates from the German Renaissance. The carving, though, is rather imprecise.
