Short description
This unpublished work, which came from the Wurts collection (W 1179), depicts a kneeling angel with large wings, which were originally red and blue, as can be glimpsed from what remains of the polychromy, and dressed in a long tunic, with deep folds that become denser in the lower part. The hands, with slender fingers, hold up a long scroll that curls at the edges. The plump face is framed by ringlets that are blown by the wind. Despite its poor condition, the work has interesting qualities, especially its attention to detail and the naturalistic rendering of the figure (which would have been originally hung up high), and dates from the German Renaissance.
