Short description
This sculpture came from the collection of the opera singer Gennaro Evangelista (called Evan) Gorga, which was given to the Italian state in 1948 and was intended for the most part for the Palazzo Venezia museum. Bearing a label with the number 21, it depicts the head of a putto, with a round face and a sad expression. It is in very poor condition, having lost almost all the polychromy and the gilding of the hair. The work on the reverse and the presence of a wooden pin, together with other nails, suggest that the head was fixed against a flat surface. Stylistically the piece belongs to the 17th century.
