Short description
In the course of his long and prolific career, Bartolomeo Cavaceppi collected an extraordinary array of sculptural material and terracotta models in his studio on the via del Babuino, enough to set up an Academy of his own. Amongst the collection was this bust, recorded in 1799 as an “ideal head”, or perhaps “Juno”. It is almost certainly an original work, where various elements from antiquity have been reconstituted to create an ideal image.
