Short description
This ink-pot is characterized by three harpies with sturdy lion paw feet serving as supports. The decoration is completed with three grotesque masks, typically used in late 16th century Venetian architecture. In his study on the work of Andrea di Bartolomeo, Avery attributes a very similar ink-pot to the same artist (in L'industria artistica del bronzo del Rinascimento a Venezia..., 2008, pp. 233-252). The bronze is supported by three large paws, which form part of the body of three Harpies, similar to those present in the stand of the Cross of the Scuola Grande di San Teodoro (now in the Accademia in Venice).
